Blue Biltrite WHA Reverse

(1972 - 1973)

The first game pucks used by the WHA were the blue Biltrite slugs with the WHA logo on the back. The blue slug was supposed to make the puck easier to see on the ice and on TV. This made no difference and the league switched to traditional black pucks after a couple of months. The blue pucks, especially with the WHA logo on the back, are highly sought after. Some teams such as Ottawa and New York are very scarce. The Quebec Nordiques puck was issued with French versions of the reverse logo and a commemorative was issued for the Ottawa National playoff drive noting Maple Leaf Gardens as their home.
