MISSISSAUGA ICE DOGS

(1998 - Present)

Don Cherry lead a group of local investors who were granted an expansion team in the OHL in 1998. The team made the decision to not participate in the European Draft and to use North American players only. While this did prove to be a hinderance to the team, inept management decisions kept the Ice Dogs in the OHL doghouse each of their first four seasons. The team has recently dropped the anti-European policy and Grapes has divested himself of the team.
