LUCAN-ILDERTON JETS

(1968 - 1980)

Lucan and Ilderton had both iced teams in the old WOAA Intermediate leagues in the 1950's (Lucan Irish and Ilderton Wildcats). In 1959, the joined forces to become the Lucan-Ilderton Combines. By 1968, the league had evolved into the Central Intermediate 'B' Hockey League and the team became known as the Lucan-Ilderton (L-I) Jets. In 1970, the Jets moved into the Southern Counties Intermediate 'B' Hockey League. For the 1971-72 season, the Jets were an Intermediate powerhouse and left all league behind them opting for an independent schedule taking on all comers and making noise about challenging for the Allan Cup. The Jets found a new home in the newly formed Western Ontario Senior 'B' Hockey League in 1972. The league became the Continental Senior 'B' Hockey League in 1973 and was upgraded to Senior 'A' status in 1975. The Jets ceased operations in 1980.
