AJAX KNOB HILL FARMS

(1972 - 1973)

Knob Hill Farms (a local grocery chain owned by current Maple Leaf owner Steve Stavro) is an unusual name for a team by today's standards. However, a team called Knob Hill Farms had competed at the top level of Junior hockey back in 1962-63 as part of the short-lived Metro Junior' A' Hockey League. The team did poorly. The name was resurrected in 1972 with the formation of the Ajax Knob Hill Farms in the new Provincial Tier II Junior 'A" Hockey League. The team relocated to Whitby in 1973. The grocery chain closed up shop in 2001.
